LaRain Saige - Director
LaRain is the co-founder of TAILS Foundation Inc. LaRain absolutely loves all animals and strives to bring the community together to help those in need. She was raised around animals her whole life (being raised on a farm) including llamas, horses, pigs, goats, ducks, chickens, ferrets, hamsters, dogs and cats; even a snake or two!
LaRain has worked as a pet sitter and dog walker since 2008, volunteered at the Post Falls Police Department Animal Shelter, was the Volunteer Coordinator for the Kootenai Humane Society and held several volunteer positions with the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Kootenai County.
Her goal is to have a farm/ranch that boards dogs as sustainable income, to be able to foster those that are waiting for a forever family while enjoying the benefits of having a real home, not a kennel, while they wait.
Johna Nelson - President
Johna comes from a lifelong animal-loving family. As a child, she grew up on her grandparents small farm in Montana surrounded by pigs, cows, horses, chickens, dogs and cats. After moving to Idaho in 1997, she worked for a local animal rescue group and two veterinarians, as well as retail, while also caring for cats, dogs and more recently, a ferret.
After a close friend was diagnosed with cancer in 2001, she began an 18 year volunteer career with Relay For Life of Coeur d'Alene holding several committee positions such as Team Captain, Advertising and Sponsorship. In May 2013, she graduated from North Idaho College with a Technical Certificate in Office Technology with a medical undertone.
Johna has been married to her high school sweetheart, Steven, for 18 years. They have a 17-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, and currently share their home with three cats, Marvin (7), Sumo (14), and Tori (6mo), three hermit crabs and seven chickens; Snickers, Snacks, Twix, Popcorn, Winnie, Lily and Iris.
