1.Please provide a description of your organization.
Tails foundation Inc. is a 501c3, non-profit organization. Our Mission is to help families care for their pets by providing resources, education and training to provide optimal health and well-being.
Due to the economy, the community enjoys purchasing items they need or want at a bargain. TAILS has a variety of donated items for the customer to browse from clothing to tools, from books to dishware and everything in between! TAILS will follow the rule of always low prices instead of playing the games of daily discounts. And, as always, seniors and military community will get additional discounts.
As the population increases, there is a noticeable need for pet care. People are unable to care for their pets due to finances, or they just don’t know how to take care of their pets as a whole. Classes teaching pet responsibility, nutrition, behavior and more is needed in this community, as there is nothing like it in our local area. Instead of trying to fix the problem afterwards, it is imperative we teach to stop it from happening in the first place.
Fundraising, grant and sponsorship dollars will go towards education and pet needs such as spay & neuter, emergency medical, pet food, and more. The goal is to provide as much assistance as possible so our pets do not suffer due to the financial situation of their people. This also includes working with other non-profits and pet-related businesses to have the best services possible
2.How will the grant or sponsorship money be spent? Please be specific. We encourage you to provide us with a detailed list of the needs and amounts for consideration.
Dollars awarded would be equally divided between our much needed community programs and to help with marketing and advertising to reach and help as many families as possible.
•Food4TAILS, our pet food bank that helps assist low income families and the elderly with food for their pets (182 families/pets helped YTD) We provide quality, healthy alternatives, plus coconut oil, diatomaceous earth and turmeric for the healthiest pets possible. This will help cover the cost of approximately 100 dogs &/or cats with food kits
•RainbowTAILS that helps offer compassionate and caring end of life services for pet owners with limited income who are caring for a elderly or terminal pet. (Helped 22 pets cross over YTD) This will help cover the cost of 10-15 pets cross the Rainbow Bridge.
•TAILS4Life whose mission is to help assist low income families with medical expenses for basic procedures such as spay/neuter, dental hygiene, vaccinations and more. (Coming Soon…much needed as we are inundated with requests!) This will help over 10 pets with emergency medical issues.
•WiseTAILS: Helps educate our community in pet responsibility, basic pet care and training, alternative therapy and food preparation. (daily education on nutrition and care of pets) this will help provide educational material to hand out at schools or other youth organizations.
•Marketing and advertising to reach and help as many families as possible through events, advertising, flyers, social media, web and more. (12 events attended YTD)
3.How many individuals would benefit from this grant?
Hundreds of families and pets would benefit with this Kiwanis grant. Everything that comes to TAILS goes straight back into the community. Helping low income people and elderly on fixed incomes keep their pets are much needed services when times are hard. With substantial grants like this we can reach even more families and their pets in need.
4.How will the dollars from this grant be used to better the community?
More people would be able to keep their pets and would decrease homeless animals. Pets will be healthy and pet parents won’t need to seek high dollar medical attention for unnecessary illness and disease that can be prevented by good nutrition. Our goal is to keep pets and their family healthy and happy at home!
5. Within your project, how will (Sponsor) be recognized for this grant?
Any sponsors would be on all our marketing materials, listed as a sponsor on our website and individual group pages for programs. We can also hang a banner on our warehouse wall. TAILS can also partner with (sponsor/organization) and share services and programs to our community members as when we work together we can accomplish more!
6. Do you have any other sources of funding for this project? From whom?
TAILS recognizes that in order to fulfill the needs of the community you must have a place of service. TAILS has a 10,000 sq ft building that is filled with donations from the community that supports the facility and pays the “bills”. Sponsorships and fundraising support our programs and services.
7. Is there anything else you would like to tell us about your organization and/or grant request?
TAILS Foundation Inc. is unlike anything out there, “a little gem in our community” as one volunteer puts it. The store is run like a huge garage sale and the community can purchase stuff at a bargain. We take pride in giving away FREE clothes every Friday and Saturday and have already given away thousands of pounds of clothes just this year! All the services and programs that TAILS has to offer are much needed in this local area and TAILS answers requests daily, so any grants or donations would be a great gift to our local community. We are a young non-profit and are tenacious in helping those in our community. We also have partnered with the SIDS Foundation, Hospice Thrift Store, NewbyGinnings, Safe Passage and more to help even more in need with clothing and needed house supplies as well as pet care.
Thank you very much for your consideration, and please contact me if more information is needed, or I would me more than happy to do a presentation in front of your group, members, employees, etc.
